I grew up in New York City, where life taught me lessons that no classroom ever could. Those lived experiences, the complexity, the resilience, the quiet pain that gets carried in silence, shaped everything about the healer I became.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia, a Certified Clinical Trauma and EMDR Professional, and a Doctoral Candidate in Community Care Counseling Traumatology. I have spent more than 10 years walking alongside individuals, couples, families, and organizations as they healed from the weight of what life has handed them. I bring a trauma-informed, collaborative, and compassionate approach to therapy.
But more than any credential, I am someone who deeply believes that every person has the right to know who they truly are and to live from that place fully, freely, and authentically.
After more than a decade in the mental health field, I noticed a pattern I could not ignore. People were arriving in therapy questioning their sense of self, searching for clarity, and longing to reconnect with who they truly were. They were exhausted in ways that sleep could not fix. Disconnected in ways that relationships alone could not heal.
At the root of their struggles was almost always the same thing: undiagnosed relational and micro-trauma patterns of pain and stress that had never been named or validated.
That recognition became a mission. D.I.V.A.™ was born from the belief that every person deserves to feel safe, seen, and valued and to live from the fullness of who they were created to be.”
— Patricia Clark, LPC
I bring my full identity into this work: as a Black therapist, a doctoral candidate, and a woman who understands firsthand the weight of being strong for everyone except yourself. My lived experience informs how I show up for every client, but especially for clients who are looking for a therapist who understands the layered, cumulative nature of stress, identity, and healing without needing it explained from scratch.
My style of therapy is straightforward, validating, realistic, inspiring, and motivational, yet warm and professional. I believe that one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves is acceptance, attention, affection, and appreciation, combined with a deep understanding of self.
Therapy integrates evidence-based modalities, including EMDR therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — all delivered through the lens of the D.I.V.A. Framework.
