What is cumulative relational microtrauma?

· Repeated emotional dismissal or minimization
· Chronic misattunement or unmet emotional needs
· Self-silencing to preserve peace, safety, belonging, or acceptance
· Unequal emotional labor and over-responsibility
· Conditional validation, affection, or worth
· Pressure to remain strong, capable, agreeable, or emotionally contained
· Subtle rejection, exclusion, stereotyping, or relational invalidation
· Being continually related to as an older version of yourself
· Repeatedly shrinking, performing, or abandoning your needs to maintain connection
· Feeling responsible for everyone else's emotional well-being
· Difficulty identifying or communicating personal needs
· Guilt or anxiety when setting boundaries
· Emotional exhaustion that rest alone does not resolve
· A diminished or unfamiliar sense of self
· Relational hypervigilance
· Fear of disappointing others
· Repeatedly questioning your perceptions
· Feeling unseen even in important relationships
· Functioning well outwardly while feeling disconnected inwardly
